Amplified Coffee Works was created in 2018 to serve our East Village, San Diego neighborhood in downtown, proximate to Petco Park and the burgeoning Maker’s Quarter. We follow the same philosophy as with our beer and Mediterranean cuisine – quality ingredients, progressive processes, & creative products designed for our customers’ enjoyment.
Our importer and roaster works directly with some of the best coffee farms in the Western Hemisphere and beyond, sourcing us single origin beans from word-renowned farms in Guatemala, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Colombia, & Brazil. We have been fortunate for the opportunity to meet and work directly with several of these microlot farmers as we seek specific flavor profiles from coffee beans for everything from bright, citrus flavors in a one-off cold brew to robust chocolate notes for barrel-aging with an imperial stout.
Our house E-Vil roast is comprised of Guatemalan beans that lend a rich, dark fruit flavor with hints of chocolate balanced by a refreshing acidity. It also comprises roughly 70% of our cold brew blend, with a smaller blending portion of a light bodied Costa Rican single-origin bean.
We will also be featuring various barrel-aged versions of darker roast blends used with our beers, including a delectable blend of Colombian, Brazilian, & Papua New Guinea beans we currently infuse into our bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout, Nyctophobia.
Coffee can be purchased in 12oz bags to-go both as beans or ground daily from our café, 8am – 6pm. Prices vary based on blend and origin.
